Art Lessons for Children & Teens

Bring creativity to life with personalised lessons that build skills, confidence and a love of art. Children and teens explore a wide range of media and materials. The sessions are designed for fun, wellbeing, Arts Award or help with educational qualifications.

Does your child struggle to bring their creative ideas into art?

Many children are full of creativity and imagination, but they often lack the support, tools, space or confidence to fully explore their talents.

01

They have big ideas, but they don’t know how to bring them to life. They find it hard to create what they imagine.

02

They don’t have access to a broad range of art tools and materials, and aren’t sure how to use them.

03

They don’t have the space to explore and make their art freely.

04

They feel unsure of their skills and worry that their art won’t turn out as they hope.

Imagine your child feeling proud and inspired with their art

There is nothing so magical as your child feeling excited about every new creation they make. You can see them learning to express themselves, think creatively and enjoy making art.

What to expect from this service

Step 01 — Enquire or Book

Ask questions or register your interest. We can discuss your child’s needs, including whether they are at school or home-educated, and establish the best frequency for sessions - weekly, bi-weekly, or ad-hoc - so it fits into your schedule. Visits can be arranged too. Sessions are kept small to ensure personalised support, with a waiting list if spaces are full.

Step 02 — Prep & Plan

Sessions are thoughtfully planned around your child’s age, interests and abilities, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported from the start.

Step 03 — Teaching

Your child is gently guided by me, building confidence, learning techniques and theory, and exploring their creativity at their own pace.

Step 04 — Create

Your child attends calm, personalised sessions where they experiment with materials, create artwork inspired by their interests, ideas and imagination, and enjoy the therapeutic, joyful process of making art.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Each lesson is carefully structured so your child works on their own project while I provide guidance and support. Students are encouraged to explore materials, try new techniques, and develop their creativity at their own pace in a calm, inspiring environment.

  • All essential art materials are provided in the studio, including an A4 sketchbook if your child wishes to use one. They are welcome to bring their own sketchbook. Canvases are not included. Students just need to bring a creative mindset and clothes that can get a little messy!

  • Home-educated and after-school sessions run on a regular weekly or bi-weekly schedule during the week. Weekend and ad hoc options are also available. I do my best to group children according to family timetables, ages, and abilities, ensuring everyone gets the most out of their class.

  • Children who book regular weekly or bi-weekly sessions have a set time reserved exclusively for them. These sessions are paid in full at the start of each half term, ensuring your child’s place is secured and their learning continues uninterrupted.

Weekend sessions are paid for by the first lesson of the month.

Ad hoc lessons are paid at least 72 hours before the session to confirm your child’s spot.

  • Yes, I do! Home-educated children often attend to create a portfolio or complete Arts Awards. Sessions take place during the daytime, following the Worcestershire term-time calendar, and are scheduled either weekly or bi-weekly.

  • Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification for children and young people that encourages creativity, exploration and confidence in the arts. It involves creating artwork, keeping a record of ideas and reflecting on learning. I am qualified to teach Discover, Explore, Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels, so your child can work towards a recognised award while building practical skills, developing a portfolio and celebrating their achievements. For further information please see the websites Arts Award and the Arts Award on Voice.
